Heard about the Rover P4? I guess not. Here are the things you should know all about the vehicle. Check this out!

The Rover P4 series was an assembly of saloon vehicles manufactured from 1949 through to 1964. It was traded by the far more contemporary Rover P6 along with the later Rover P5. All P4s were 4-door saloons with passenger seats for four. It should be distinguished that the P4 title is factory terms for the group of cars and was not in everyday use by usual owners, who would have said merely that they own and drive a "Rover 90" and so on and so forth.

According to Wiki, the cars used a Rover engine in 4 or 6 cylinder forms which came from the 1948 P3 and had transparency valves for cove and side valves for exhaust. A four-speed manual transmission was used with a column-mounted shifter at first and floor-mounted unit from 1954. At first the gearbox only had synchromesh on third and top but it was added to second gear as well in 1953. A free wheel clutch, a traditional Rover feature, was fitted to cars without overdrive until about 1959. The cars had a separate chassis with independent suspension by coil springs at the front and a live axle with half elliptical leaf springs at the rear. The brakes on early cars were operated by a hybrid hydro-mechanical system but became fully hydraulic in 1950. Discs replaced drums at the front from 1959.

The whole body shells were made by the Pressed Steel company and featured aluminium body panels until the final 95/110 models.

Bentley cars are among the most expensive luxury items to-date. Bentley has established a name that became known worldwide, and it is purely loved by some of the most influential personas in the planet. What’s even more stunning is the set of vintage models built decades ago, and they are definitely ground-breaking. Among these great classics is the Mulsanne.

Though copied models like the Continental T and Azure lasted into the 2000s, the Bentley Mulsanne is a performance luxury car manufactured by Bentley Motors Limited from 1980 through 1992. The name is obtained from Bentley’s legendary history, which included five significant victories at the 24 Hours of Le Mans — the ‘Mulsanne Straight’ being the stretch of the Le Mans racecourse where cars reach their maximum speeds. The new Bentley guaranteed to characterize the heart and soul of Bentley motoring by providing abundant performance alongside a complete ease.

The Mulsanne contributed to the traditional 6.75 L (6750 cc/411 in³) Rolls-Royce V8 with aluminum alloy cylinder heads. Two SU carburetors were changed by Bosch fuel injection with innovative components on all models from 1986. All Mulsannes made use of a 3-speed automatic transmission.

The first Mulsanne Turbo was launched at the Geneva Motor Show in 1982 and produced through 1985. There was a fifty percent increase in power. Thanks to the Garrett AirResearch turbocharger, it perfectly matched the Mulsanne with outstanding results. There was the typical highly refined walnut veneered fascia, blemish-free leather and carpets and headlining of pure wool for the interior. 498 short wheel-base and 18 long wheelbase Mulsanne Turbos were produced.

you think you’ve seen all the strange cars in the world, think again. Several of these bizarre vehicles were built a long time ago, and today, their value increases as we count the days that passes by. Speaking of rare and expensive vehicles, have you heard about a vehicle called McQuay Norris Streamliner? I don’t think so…

The six McQuay-Norris Streamliners was produced in 1934 and was built to be driven by McQuay-Norris engine component sales representatives. McQuay-Norris used the Streamliners as test-beds for new engine parts as well as advertising the company, and for this function the interior was fixed with many dials and instruments to observe performance and engine condition. The McQuay-Norris Streamliner’s chassis and running gear were based on a Ford V8, and the aerodynamic bodywork was made from steel and aluminium attached to a wooden frame. The curved windows were made from Plexiglas.

Here are some extra facts about McQuay Norris Streamliner according to Trombinoscar.com:

The McQuay Norris Streamliner is an important piece of automotive history. The car was one of six such cars built by McQuay-Norris, a St. Louis based manufacturer of internal engine and chassis components. The cars were built using a 1934 Ford chassis and running gear and the highly advanced streamlined body design was constructed of steel and aluminum over a wood framework. The aircraft inspired windshield and canopy design was constructed of Plexiglas. The cars were built to be used by McQuay Norris representatives for promotional purposes but more importantly they used as test cars and as such they were equipped with a multitude of gauges mounted to the dash to monitor the performance of various components. It is one of 2 such cars known to exist and the only one that is restored. It was restored in 1990 and became part of the Hemmings Motor News collection until purchased from them.

There were several exotic cars that were built during the post-war period. One of them is the Morris Minor, which is apparently strange to our ears. Here are some details that you should know about this car…

The radical Morris Minor was introduced at the Earls Court Motor Show on 20 September, 1948. The first prototype of the Morris Minor was popularly known as the ‘Mosquito’. It was the work of a creative team led by Alec Issigonis who established the name for an earlier Morris Minor car, who designed the Mini soon after.

This year will be the 60th anniversary of the Morris Minor launch. It will be held at Stanford Hall in Lutterworth, Leicestershire on the 21st/22nd June 2008. Organised by the Morris Minor Owners Club.

Here’s a short piece of history from Wiki:

Sir Alec became famous for his creation of the Mini but he was really proudest of his participation in designing the Morris Minor. He considered it as being a vehicle which managed to combine many of the luxuries and conveniences of a good motor car with a price suitable for the working classes, while the Mini, introduced in 1959, was a spartan mode of conveyance with everything cut to the bone. The Morris Minor, when compared with competitor products in the late 1940s and throughout the 1950s, excelled as a roomy vehicle with superior cornering / handling characteristics.

Internal politicking inside manufacturer BMC (British Motor Corporation) may have led to the limited American sales of the Minor.

Here’s a short piece of history about this marvelous vintage ride from way back 50’s. This is an interesting trivia for those inexperienced people… Check it out!

The DB4GT was highly alike to the standard DB4. But since values of GT’s are presently about five times that of the standard cars, definitely, everyone should anticipate a very diverse package. The DB4GT was launched in September 1959 at the London Motor Show. The vehicle was based on the ultimate racing prototype, the DP199/1. The car was featured fair in headlamps and Plexiglas covers which was sustained through the series to the DB6 Mark 2 in 1970. At the present day, the DB9 and Vanquish carries on to have headlights enclosed by a transparent cover.

The bodywork was of thinner 18 gauge aluminum in order to save weight. The wheelbase was reduced by 13cm and the engine was tuned and the rear seats were deleted. A maximum speed ranged up to 153mph with a 0 to 60 time of 6.1 seconds during it was first tested. In addition to this, the DB4GT was also one of the first vehicles that could go from at rest to 100 mph and then brake to a full stop in less than 30 seconds.

The engine of the GT still with a capacity of 3670 cc (though some had 3750cc), was otherwise widely customized. It featured twin plugs heads using two distributors (that’s twelve sparkplugs in total) and triple twin choke 45 DCOE4 or 9 Weber carburettors plus 9:1 and a compression ratio.

Seeking out for some of the most exotic classic cars in the planet is a tough job, let me tell you. It’s not the usual models we often see down the highway. These vehicles are the “endangered species” in the industry. That’s why just a few lucky people are fortunate to have one of these rides. Speaking of out of the ordinary models, I’m sure you haven’t heard about Quantum. This rare automaker has brought out one of the best classical and mean road machine, the sports car they call Exteme!

The Quantum Xtreme distinguished as a lightweight two seat sports car that is highly inspired by the world-renowned Lotus 7. The Quantum Extreme is an immensely powerful road performer. What makes it so sleek and swift? The Extreme makes use of a front engine, rear wheel drive layout based around a stainless steel monocoque chassis providing a massive degree of torsional rigidity. The name tells the real story if you can’t actually define the character of this awesome ride.

Talk about body styling and design…

It obviously embodies the real face of vintage racing with long front ends and curvacious detaling. Some of you won’t be happy with the styling, but as they all say, inner beauty is more important. And the Extreme’s heart, the powertrain, is totally a beauty to wrecken with.

Quantum provided engine options that include a 2.0 liter Pinto and 1.8 liter Zetec unit, but there are numerous options that can be fitted depending on the request by Quantum’s clients. The Quantum Extreme is apparently a reflection of Lotus’ undisputed domination in the world of manufacturing sports car.

My friend boasted that one time while walking down this street downtown, she experienced being in the presence of classic cars which were in some sort of parade. She was amazed and in awe at how the classic vehicles looked.

There could be quite a number of people from Mumbai, India who could also felt the same way that she did. See, just last Sunday, a pack of vintage vehicles were seen driving through the city’s streets. This would be part of the Haig-VCCCI Vintage Car and Motor Cycle Fiesta which is in its 21st year. The Vintage and Classic Car Club of India (also known as VCCCI) is behind this event and it has gotten some help from the Western India Automobile Association as well as from the Mumbai Traffic Police.

It is very unlikely that a Chevy Nova was part of the pack but the organizers have disclosed that there were classic vehicles all throughout the history of the automobile industry. Some of the cars were produced even before the 1940s. There were Bentleys, Lamborghinis, Range Rovers, Mercedes units, Porsches, Audis and Ferraris.

Nitin Dosa is the head of the events and is a member of the VCCCI. Dosa disclosed, “We have received more than two hundred entries and it’s an Indian record. You can expect in the future a few more rallies. We are coming out with an International Rally next year and it will be good.”

According to wikipedia, the car was produced by Italian designer Giovanni Michelotti, 145 inches long, with a 57 inches width and 48 inches height when hood is up. It comes with a four-speed manual and an overdrive optional transmission.

However, years after its debut, the Triumph Splitfire, like most vintage cars, had lost its charm to modern car buyers. Compared to the new era vehicles, the Triumph Splitfire with an engine size of only 1147 cc, now has an ultimate speed of not more than 90 miles an hour. That means, 17 seconds of driving before you get to reach 60 miles an hour.

But the Triumph Splitfire MK3 and MK4 have already underwent changes including an improved interior, full-width dashboard and a smart detachable hardtop, reclining seats, and others. It then later on released the Splitfire 1500 in 1974 which accounted for being the most popular Splitfire of all. In fact, most Splitfires for sale nowadays are from the 1500 variant.

A car that looks good going slow as it does going fast. The Triumph Splitfire’s race in the auto market continues. As its advertisement signifies, with the Triumph Splitfire, “You not only get a car and a girl but a piece of history.”

There should be no Audi parts studded vehicles here for Audi is a fairly new brand and when I mean classics, I mean really old.

The event would be known as Desert classic Concours d’Elegance and it sets out in Palm Springs O’Donnell Golf Club this March 1st from 9 in the morning up until 5pm, mydesert.com reported. You should attend, you know. You would not only get to be in the presence of these classic cars but you would also be able to help raise money for some local organizations.

Every flick that we’ve seen on the big screen usually features great cars and out of this world vehicles. In the advanced world of movie-making, they usually feature cars that embody the future and latest cars of the century - if you could notice that. A good example is the Audi RSQ, which was featured in the iRobot sci-fi flick. Aside from the RSQ with the advanced oil filter, a lot of ultramodern vehicles have already been introduced in several blockbuster Hollywood movies.

During the twentieth century and the early years of the 21st, movie makers boast of their own special celebrity cars that totally rocked the big screen. And most of them are classics from way, way back! The appeal of classic cars has never run out of gas for decades now. The universal appeal is still there - that’s why several ground-breaking movies featured vintage vehicles to add a little bit of spice and color to the story.
