1959 Aston Martin DB4 GT
Here’s a short piece of history about this marvelous vintage ride from way back 50’s. This is an interesting trivia for those inexperienced people… Check it out!
The DB4GT was highly alike to the standard DB4. But since values of GT’s are presently about five times that of the standard cars, definitely, everyone should anticipate a very diverse package. The DB4GT was launched in September 1959 at the London Motor Show. The vehicle was based on the ultimate racing prototype, the DP199/1. The car was featured fair in headlamps and Plexiglas covers which was sustained through the series to the DB6 Mark 2 in 1970. At the present day, the DB9 and Vanquish carries on to have headlights enclosed by a transparent cover.
The bodywork was of thinner 18 gauge aluminum in order to save weight. The wheelbase was reduced by 13cm and the engine was tuned and the rear seats were deleted. A maximum speed ranged up to 153mph with a 0 to 60 time of 6.1 seconds during it was first tested. In addition to this, the DB4GT was also one of the first vehicles that could go from at rest to 100 mph and then brake to a full stop in less than 30 seconds.
The engine of the GT still with a capacity of 3670 cc (though some had 3750cc), was otherwise widely customized. It featured twin plugs heads using two distributors (that’s twelve sparkplugs in total) and triple twin choke 45 DCOE4 or 9 Weber carburettors plus 9:1 and a compression ratio.
