Quaid-e-Azam’s Vintage Rolls-Royce Flaunted
The Vintage and Classic Car Club of Pakistan (VCCCP) displayed last Tuesday their collection of vintage cars, including the one used by founder of the nation. This happened at a show held at the Governor’s House in Karachi on the 60th Independence Day of Pakistan, The News reported.
The highlight of the show was the display of a Rolls-Royce car which the founder of the nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and Lord Mountbatten rode on August 14, 1947 from the then Governor-General’s House in Karachi.
What’s more, a 1924 vintage car was also put on display at the show that was presented to the Quaid-e-Azam by Nawab of Bahawalpur which Quaid-e-Azam used after creation of Pakistan. Sindh Governor Dr. Ishratul Ebad inspected the vintage and classic cars collection and lauded VCCCP office-bearers for their efforts in maintaining the collection.
The President of the VCCCP, Mohsin Ikram, briefed the Sindh Governor and other officials on their collection of vintage and classic cars including those having historic importance of the nation.
The Sindh Governor said that the historic and classic cars drew people to the corridors of history and attracted all those with an interest in the life of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. He added the government has always encouraged people interested in preserving historical and cultural heritage of Pakistan and in future too, it would continue to support such people in their efforts.
The governor also announced the formation of museum for ancient, classic cars in Karachi and issued directives for maintenance and care of cars used by Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and his sister Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah.
