Classic Car Collectors’ Club Awaited Events
What’s in the minds of classic car collectors? What do they do with their stuff? Do they actually drive them for fun or pleasure…? Or do these vehicles just stay inside their garages and the owner gives them a visit every day or something?
These are few of the questions in my mind every time I see classic cars for sale and those ones seen along the road. Those kinds of classic vehicles do not have cheap costs. Some of them are worth millions of dollars. The extra cost has been allotted to the restoration and conversion of the vehicle to meet emission standards of the present date. Insurance is also included, though considerably low.
I’ve read one article from online.wsj.com about the Classic Car Collectors. These collectors are not up with the performance of the vehicle, but with the art and design of the unit thus taking it as a cultural piece. As Bonhams London auctioneer James Knight said “Cars are built to be enjoyed.” He’s overwhelmed every time he drove his sporty 1954 Austin Healey 100… “Puts a smile on my face and the people we pass. These cars are charming things,” he claims.
Some of the great names in this field are Ferrari, Bugatti, Romeo, Alfa, Jaguar, Bentley, Duesenberg and Mercedes-Benz (which come fitted with premium Mercedes Benz fan clutches and other engine parts in their distinct models since the early years to provide them lasting performance).
The significance of the collector clubs is the information dissemination regarding sales, car shows and auctions - events where they know everyone would love to be part of, since members proclaim they know each other. As I have found from the site, fresh events include:
- The Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance show on August 16-19, featuring rare and beautiful automobiles that they have owned since they have been founded in 1950
- A Christie’s auction at Monterey Jet Center on August 16 is also one of it, featuring the 1963 Ferrari 250 GT Berlinetta Lusso ranging from $800,000 - $1.2million
- RM Auctions at the Monterey Conference Center on August 16-18 featuring a 1935 Duesenberg Model SJ Town Cabriolet ranging from $2.3 million - $3 million
- The Goodwood Revival on August 31 – September 2 at the Goodwood estate near Chichester featuring re-enachments of classic motor races from the 1950s and ‘60s with precise historic details
- Bonhams Auction on August 31 at the Goodwood estate featuring a 1958 Mercedes Benz 300SL Roadster and a 1927 Bentley all-weather tourer
- The “International Autojumble” on September 8-9, held by U.K.’s National motor Museum in Beaulieu in Hampshire
- Bonhams Auction of September 8 in the “International AUtojumble” featuring a 1928 Morris Oxford Saloon, a 1925 “Bullnose” Morris Cowley, and a 1929 Morgan-JAP Aero Sports
If some of you don’t know these forthcoming events yet and are interested, now you know. So, be sure to get yourself ready - packed up bags of cash if you want to own one of the mentioned classic cars.
