1961 Ford Thunderbird

Filed under: Uncategorized - Administrator @ 6:53 am

Time is running so fast we could hardly imagine that a year or two had gone through our very eyes unconsciously! But who could ever forget the timeless premium cars of all time?

One of these vintage cars is the 1961 Ford Thunderbird! A lot of people think that this car is one of the most gorgeous vehicles Ford has ever produced. With a style like a bullet, the ’61 to ’63 model Thunderbirds are certainly one of the most handsome-looking Ford units of all time!

With a flashy and flamboyant design, this vehicle features a distinguishing grille-work with afterburner headlights and taillights. A combination of Jet Age inspiration and aero-streamlining that acquires the styling touches from the thirties and forties are the best words suited to be the description of the Thunderbird. The convertible model definitely has the ultimate boulevard styling that captures the very hearts of everybody!

Most of us are familiar that it’s not a race car and it’s obvious in its four-seat interior. Instead of making it a race car, Ford offered it as a personal sport coupe and luxury convertible. How can we all say that this is one of the most beautiful cars ever? It’s because it is geared with the legendary V-8 390 FE Thunderbird engine! This car is absolutely powerful and I’m telling you it’s not a slump.

The Thunderbird was designed for tough high-speed driving performance in a long duration of time. The design focused more on comfort and style for the driver and passengers as well and this was the first priority of Ford, a comfortable and stylish convertible. The comfortable bucket seats convey a lavishing feel when matched with a matching wrap-steel instrument console and panel. The steel sustains the full length of the doors into the back seat. The general effect is impressive. From the interior and exterior, the design brilliancy will definitely mesmerize us to the max.

Have you ever dreamt of driving this kind of cars? If you’re going to ask me, I’ll say, a lot! It would be great if you find yourself behind the wheel of the 1961 Thunderbird convertible. I wish I could go back in time and purchase this car. And hey, guess what I’m going to do next? I’m going to drive myself all-day long with the Thunderbird! You want to come with me?

Chevrolet Blazer, IIHS’ Most Deadly Vehicle

Chevrolet Blazer

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) released a piece of very interesting news about GM’s very own subsidiary - Chevrolet. The institute hailed the Chevrolet Blazer as the deadliest vehicle on the road. The logic was based on its 2002 - 2005 statistics. The IIHS released that the two-door Chevy killed an enormous number of 232 deaths per million as registered vehicles built between 2001 and 2004. And by the way, we are talking about the Chevrolet Blazer here not the Trailblazer. I was just clearing that out for you might get confused.

"The study doesn’t really take into account driver behavior or how the vehicles are used so it’s difficult to really draw much significance." This is what the General Motors Corporation defense spokesman Alan Adler has to say on a press release from the Associated Press. The statement what somewhat the same as of the speech he said in 2005 when the Chevy Blazer was first announced to be the most deadly automobile.

In contrary, the Chevy Astro minivan was the noted have the lowest number of deaths amounting to seven deaths per one million vehicles. Perhaps, some Chevy parts like its performance parts for the Blazer are not done that well.

Just in case you want to know, the Acura RSX comes next to the Chevrolet Blazer with 202 death per million followed by the Nissan 350Z with 193. The Infiniti G35 follows the Astra as the least deadly vehicle on the road followed by the Toyota 4Runner and the BMW 7 Series.

VW T2 Bus

Filed under: Uncategorized - Administrator @ 7:27 am

VW T2

Remember the hip van that sometimes with colorful paintjob or sometime used in some hit movies? I think this vehicle was used in the movie “Little Miss Sunshine”. Oh yes. Definitely it was the T2 bus!

I bet you’re familiar with this vehicle because I’m sure you can still spot this vintage van cruising around the streets. Am I right? What I’m talking about here is the Volkswagen Type 2 van or also known as the “transporter”.

The Volkswagen Type 2 Bus or the Transporter was the second automotive unit created by the German automaker Volkswagen. It was first introduced in 1950 and the design was basically patterned from Type 1 model which is the VW Beetle. T2 was likely to be commonly considered as a passenger van and a modern cargo. The T2 bus created a lot of imitators which was found both in United States and Europe which includes the A100 by Dodge, the Econoline by Ford and the Corvan by Chevrolet.

And don’t you know that the T2 has updated versions that are still marketed internationally? Now tell me, did we miss something? We can still experience the feel of getting into this classic and so hip vehicle!

We have to give credit to Dutch Volkswagen importer Ben Pon who is responsible of the first sketches of T2 VW parts. Heavy optimization led to the aerodynamics of the first model although it wasn’t that good. It took place at the wind tunnel of Technical University of Braunschweig and all the efforts were all worth it. Compared to other Volkswagen with rear-engine, over the time it constantly evolved but it failed to witness all-new models while the T2 has not only evolved but was completely improved with variations made periodically which we knew as T1 to T5.

We should be thankful to the brilliant minds of Volkswagen designer and engineers who’s responsible for creating such wonderful vehicle. How about a round of applause there?

How I wish I can own one of this T2s and modify it myself. What do you think? Something’s telling me I have the hippie character. Rock and roll with the Volkswagen T2!

When KITT Returns, He Goes on Sale

Filed under: Uncategorized - Administrator @ 7:30 am

Let us go back to 1980’s. Do you remember David Hasselhoff’s fictional television series “Knight Rider”? Well, who would ever forget the talking KITT? Well, not me. In fact, I was dreaming about getting and driving one when I grew up. That was what I said to myself when I was young.

Imagine a talking car? Where are you going to get that in the real world?

I thought I wasn’t real, but hey, I just spotted news on the net that says the KITT (Knight Industries Two Thousand), the talking black Pontiac Trans Am T-top automobile which was the talking KITT is going on sale in California. Finally, my childhood dream is going to become reality at last.

KITT

According to the Associated Press, the car has undergone a full restoration and is now offered at the price of $149,995 in a dealership in Dublin, California.

The car which is now being sold is one among the four KITTs used in the TV series “Knight Rider”. And we all know that the vehicle has been driven by Michael Knight (which the character that David Hasselhoff plays). The car still looks the same - it does have the same red scanner light located on his nose which makes a humming sound.

However, it only hits 300 mph with many non-useful buttons inside. But the car got impressive interior and exterior parts. If that would be enough for me. Maybe if I was a fanatic or maybe a collector, I would go for this one.

The car is also composed of more Pontiac parts which made the car a good one to ride on everyday. According to the Kassabian Motors’ Salesman Johnny Verhoek, it has been a month after the new owner Tim Russo of nearby Livermore got it. Actually he has won it in an auction in San Diego around a decade ago.

Hmmnnppp.. Looks like my childhood dream is over. I will just wait until Russo decides to put it on auction again. Meanwhile, I guess this Honda I got will be my present company until the KITT is on sale again.
